This project is a poster for Chapman University’s State of the University Address. The project celebrates Chapman’s newest addition to the Rinker Health Science Center, the Student Center. The Student Center is the nexus for students to study, relax, pray, meditate, and socialize—a home base for graduate students to feel a part of the Chapman family.
The State of The University Address poster combines multiple elements to tell the story of the Rinker Campus. The poster honors the land the campus is built upon, the idea of what makes a campus, and the convergence of Chapman University’s values with concepts of health, well-being, and mindfulness.
Gradients are used to as a visual representation of Chapman University’s values (warm gradation) with the more spiritual and natural elements that are incorporated into the Rinker Campus (cool gradation). A reflective convergence represents light and glass shards, depicting the endless possibilities for the students.
An old map of the land is used as the imagery for the background, a reminder of place and time. Wispy stepping stones signify the importance of student’s time at the Rinker Campus during their graduate studies, marking it as a milestone in their life.
